en.Wedoany.com Reported - South Korea's Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ) is planning to transform Songdo International City into a world-class eco-friendly sustainable city through global ecological network construction. On July 13, the agency officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the UK's Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT) at the Songdo G-Tower Business Center to secure professional support for the Songdo International Eco-Center construction project, aiming to enhance its world-class biodiversity conservation capabilities and establish a foundation for international cooperation in building a sustainable city.

The two parties will work together to protect biological habitats in Songdo International City and its surrounding areas, plan international cooperation and academic exchanges to maintain biodiversity, and establish a close collaboration system in areas such as environmental education and activities to raise global citizenship awareness.
Founded in 1946, WWT is a representative wetland conservation charity in the UK, operating 10 wetland reserves across the country, including the London Wetland Centre, which serves as a model for the Songdo International Eco-Center.
Following the signing ceremony, WWT International Cooperation Manager Tina Redshaw delivered a special lecture on "Experience Design Connecting People and Spaces." She proposed that wetland centers should transcend simple conservation facilities to become hubs connecting local communities with nature, emphasizing the importance of accessibility and storytelling integrated with local culture, pointing the direction for the development of Songdo's constructed wetlands.
Incheon Free Economic Zone Acting Commissioner Yoon Baek-jin stated, "This agreement will become an important turning point for the Songdo International Eco-Center construction project." He added, "We will further enhance the ecological brand value as a global sustainable city."
