Jacobs Awarded Five-and-a-Half-Year O&M Contract for 4 U.S. Wastewater Plants

The contract covers 4 wastewater treatment plants with a combined design treatment capacity of more than 110 million gallons per day, approximately 416,000 cubic meters per day, and serves Oklahoma City and 6 surrounding communities.

In addition to the 4 wastewater treatment facilities, Jacobs' scope of work also includes 1 regional pump station and operations services related to biosolids management, specifically including biological sludge disposal and septic tank waste receiving. The contract therefore covers the operational chain of "wastewater treatment plants—regional pump station—sludge treatment and disposal—septic tank waste receiving," rather than maintenance of equipment at a single wastewater plant.

According to City of Oklahoma City government data, the city's 4 wastewater treatment plants currently treat more than 60 million gallons of wastewater per day, serving a population of more than 1 million; compared with the total design treatment capacity of more than 110 million gallons per day covered by the Jacobs contract, the contract assets simultaneously handle existing treatment tasks as well as system peak, redundancy, and subsequent operational needs. The city's wastewater system also operates commercial and industrial pretreatment programs, managing wastewater from food service, healthcare, automotive, industrial manufacturing, and other users entering the public sewer network.
