It is suitable for demanding machining conditions in ISO P, ISO M, and ISO K materials.

When machining internal bore features, issues such as vibration, deflection, and chip accumulation can affect productivity and quality. CoroTurn PI addresses these challenges with high-precision chip breakers, multiple coolant configurations, and a single-tool solution covering both roughing and finishing, achieving high quality and efficiency in demanding boring applications.

Sascha Bolling, Global Product Manager at Sandvik Coromant, stated that the core of this tool lies in process security. Boring is complex, but dedicated tools like CoroTurn PI not only prevent cutting issues but also improve productivity, output, and cost efficiency.

The core of CoroTurn PI is its unique tool holder design, featuring two independent insert seats—one for roughing and one for finishing. This reduces tool change frequency, shortens cycle times, and increases output. Each roughing insert has eight cutting edges, extending tool life and reducing costs.

Åke Nilsson, Global Product Application Expert at Sandvik Coromant, noted that the dual-insert seat design significantly boosts efficiency, and he has never seen another turning tool with this level of functionality and performance.

CoroTurn PI employs Sandvik Coromant's patented PrimeTurning™ method, achieving flexibility and control through a small entering angle and all-direction turning. The small entering angle, combined with the tool's precision chip breaker, ensures safe chip evacuation. The tool also offers customizable coolant delivery options tailored for blind or through-hole parts, resulting in better chip control, smoother machining, and higher reliability.
