en.Wedoany.com Reported - DHL Supply Chain España has secured a management contract for Damm's logistics centers in Barcelona and Murcia, responsible for coordinating internal logistics processes, supplying production bases, and distributing finished products to domestic food and catering channels as well as international sales channels.
The first phase of this collaboration is expected to last five years, involving 135,000 square meters of warehousing space in Barcelona and 46,000 square meters in Murcia. Operations cover the inbound and outbound movement of over 3.2 million product pallets, with loading and unloading processes carried out via automated systems provided by Damm.
DHL Supply Chain will deploy its proprietary tool MySupplyChain, a platform based on advanced analytics technology, to monitor service levels, enhance operational visibility, and predict optimization opportunities within Damm's supply chain, particularly in demand management and inventory control.
Additionally, plans include deploying the warehouse management system BlueYonder to help maximize operational performance, especially in pallet handling and order picking processes. During the contract period, it is expected that the entire fleet will be converted to lithium battery technology, thereby reducing operational carbon dioxide emissions by 72.4%, equivalent to nearly 400 tons per year.
Factors considered in awarding the project include DHL Supply Chain's ability to optimize yard, dock, and transportation processes, which take place in the logistics centers' courtyards and loading docks, and are crucial for ensuring efficient flow of goods and vehicles in and out of the facilities.
Such optimization can reduce waiting times, improve coordination between carriers and operational teams, minimize errors, and enhance operational productivity. Furthermore, DHL's personnel management and development philosophy, based on active listening, diversity, and labor equity, was also a factor in this collaboration.
