en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Spanish Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has preliminarily approved the renovation plan for the Gornazo service area on the A-67 highway in the municipality of Miengo, Cantabria. The project has a budget of approximately €14.65 million and involves a comprehensive overhaul of the existing service area, including the demolition of current commercial buildings.

The renovation includes setting up a dedicated rest area for professional drivers, equipped with laundry facilities, showers, changing rooms, and supporting technical infrastructure. In terms of charging facilities, four ultra-fast charging stations with a power output of 150 kilowatts each will be installed on each side of the service area, with each charger featuring dual-gun charging positions in the heavy vehicle zone. The plan also involves intelligently reallocating waiting and rest parking spaces near the charging points to optimize queue management.
Additionally, the service area will feature a comprehensive building housing a restaurant, kitchen, bar, shop, rest zone, and green spaces. The project aims to enhance the level of service facilities along the A-67 highway, providing more complete supporting services for professional transport drivers and electric vehicle users. The Spanish transport authorities stated that this renovation project will help promote sustainable mobility and the development of charging infrastructure in the road transport sector.
