Amazon receives first 27 Mercedes eActros 600 electric heavy trucks in Germany

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 9, Amazon received its first 27 Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 battery-electric heavy trucks in Germany. These vehicles are part of an order for more than 200 eActros 600 trucks that Amazon placed with Mercedes-Benz Trucks in early 2025, and are planned for use in "middle-mile" transport between Amazon logistics centers, sortation centers, and urban delivery areas. By the end of 2026, Amazon plans to put more than 50 of this model into operation in Germany.
The eActros 600 is produced at the Mercedes-Benz Trucks Wörth plant and features a 621 kWh battery system and a proprietary electric drive axle, with a range of approximately 500 kilometers on a single charge. The vehicle is designed for 40-tonne long-haul transport scenarios. The vehicles Amazon is deploying will handle trunk-line and medium-distance transport tasks between logistics facilities within Germany.
Amazon and Mercedes-Benz Trucks signed a contract in early 2025 for the purchase of more than 200 eActros 600 trucks, marking Amazon's largest single order for electric heavy trucks to date. The vehicles are primarily deployed in the United Kingdom and Germany, with deliveries in the UK market having begun by the end of 2025; the 27 vehicles received in Germany this time are the first official deliveries of this order in Germany. Once the entire fleet is in operation, Amazon expects the vehicles to transport more than 350 million packages annually.
Supporting charging infrastructure is being built in parallel. Amazon is installing hundreds of heavy-duty truck charging points at its operating locations across Europe, with key sites using 360 kW charging facilities that can charge the eActros 600 battery from 20% to 80% in slightly more than 1 hour. The company disclosed that its investment in electrification and decarbonization of its European transport network exceeds 1 billion euros, of which related investment in Germany exceeds 400 million euros.
This delivery of 27 vehicles is an execution milestone under the 2025 purchase contract for more than 200 vehicles, rather than a new order for an additional 27 vehicles. The German fleet will continue to grow from the current first batch of 27 vehicles, reaching more than 50 by the end of 2026.
