en.Wedoany.com Reported - CNPC Bohai Drilling Engineering Company Limited's First Mud Logging Branch completed the drilling of two geothermal wells, Yunre-5 and Yunre-6, during the pilot test well drilling in Yuncheng, Shanxi. Both wells reached a final depth exceeding 4,000 meters, setting a new record for the deepest geothermal well drilled in the Jidong Oilfield.

The deep geothermal wells in the Yuncheng area face complex geological conditions, presenting significant challenges for drilling operations. The deep strata in the construction block exhibit frequent lithological changes, distinct formation pressure differences, and variable downhole conditions, imposing high demands on the accuracy, speed, and professionalism of mud logging operations. Ultra-deep well construction also requires overcoming technical difficulties such as precise reservoir identification, detailed stratigraphic correlation, and early prediction of abnormal downhole conditions, putting mud logging technology and on-site construction capabilities to multiple tests. Leveraging high-performance mud logging instruments and considering the block's geological characteristics, the company developed a targeted deep well construction plan, defining technical standards and risk prevention measures. During construction, 24-hour dynamic monitoring was implemented on-site to capture real-time changes in drilling parameters, cuttings, and gas measurement data, completing stratigraphic division and reservoir characterization. Through continuous dynamic data comparison and analysis, real-time feedback on downhole conditions was provided, effectively mitigating construction risks and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of mud logging data. This construction provided key technical support for the safe and efficient completion of these two ultra-deep wells, and also accumulated data for subsequent similar geothermal well projects.
