en.Wedoany.com Reported - Brazil's National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) has approved Tesla Comercializadora de Gás to import natural gas from Argentina, with a maximum daily volume of 5 million cubic meters. The company had previously received ANP approval to trade natural gas within Brazil.

According to the ANP authorization, the natural gas must be transported via pipeline, with delivery points in Corumbá, Mato Grosso do Sul, or Uruguaiana, Rio Grande do Sul. Tesla thus has two import route options: one via Bolivia, through the Bolivia-Brazil Gas Pipeline (Gasoduto Bolívia – Brasil, or Gasbol), which is currently the only channel bringing Vaca Muerta natural gas into Brazil; the other is a connection in southern Brazil, linking to other Argentine gas pipeline networks, though expansion is needed to extend it to the Vaca Muerta production area.
Currently, Argentina's seasonal natural gas exports are mainly concentrated in the summer months, when reduced heating demand generates surplus production. Brazil has previously imported Vaca Muerta natural gas on a spot basis via the Bolivian pipeline. However, achieving more stable, regular transactions still depends on the expansion of Argentina's pipeline infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the ANP has also approved Biancogres Cerâmica to operate as a natural gas trader. This authorization does not include bulk distribution of compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied natural gas (LNG).
In the biomethane sector, the ANP has approved GNV Lara Mauá (GNL Lara Mauá), a waste management company under the Lara Group, to engage in biomethane trading activities. This authorization also excludes bulk distribution of compressed biomethane, meaning the biomethane must be injected into the pipeline network.
