en.Wedoany.com Reported - China's Henan Iron and Steel Group recently achieved the first successful batch rolling of thin-gauge high-manganese wear-resistant steel, with products already delivered to customers. This marks the group's entry into the ranks of the few domestic steel enterprises capable of mass-producing thin-gauge high-manganese wear-resistant steel, filling the production gap in Henan Province for this type of high-end wear-resistant steel.

High-manganese wear-resistant steel, known as the "king of wear-resistant steels," is a key material in mining, engineering machinery, and new energy equipment, with thin-gauge products being core materials for high-end equipment manufacturing. The production process is extremely demanding, facing industry-wide challenges such as high rolling deformation resistance, difficult plate shape control, and poor bending performance, creating significant technical barriers. Only a few leading domestic steel companies can achieve stable mass production, and the material has long relied on imports, constraining the development of high-end equipment industries such as mining and engineering machinery.
Leveraging its 1780 hot continuous rolling line, Henan Iron and Steel Group has concentrated on overcoming core technologies such as high-reduction rolling and high-temperature online water toughening, successfully and stably producing mainstream grades Mn13 and Mn15. After rigorous quality verification by downstream customers, indicators including plate flatness, wear resistance, and bending performance all met standards, with process stability and product adaptability verified on-site.

This mass production breakthrough has broken the technical and supply barriers for thin-gauge high-end wear-resistant steel, addressing the regional shortfall in high-end special steel. It provides material support for the self-sufficiency of materials used in high-end equipment such as mining and engineering machinery, industry cost reduction and efficiency improvement, and domestic substitution.
