The brand is jointly created by Chery and Jaguar Land Rover. The new car is equipped with 896-line LiDAR, Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 5, and Qualcomm Snapdragon's latest generation 8397 automotive-grade chip, among other features. It is scheduled to make its debut soon and go on sale in the second half of the year.
According to the released official images, the Freelander 8 adopts a wrap-around cockpit design. The driver's seat continues the family-style "commander" driving position, while the front passenger seat features a 1.2-meter legroom with a glovebox to enhance comfort. The interior is equipped with a T-shaped bridge layout consisting of a 46.3-inch far-end screen (8K resolution) and a 15.6-inch LED central control screen, complemented by a fragrance system, 256-color dual-ring floating ambient lighting, and a K9-grade optical crystal knob with 144 precision facets.
In terms of exterior, the Freelander 8 highly restores the design concept of the Concept 97 show car, featuring a closed front grille and a boxy shape to enhance the technological feel. Color options include five standard colors: Flowing Silver (Glossy), Fjord Blue, Iridescent Copper, Midnight Black, and Cloud White, as well as three limited-edition colors: Hot Lime, Twilight Purple, and Flowing Silver (Matte).
On the intelligent front, FREELANDER has engaged in deep collaborative development with Huawei, CATL, and Qualcomm. The new car is equipped across all trims with Qualcomm Snapdragon's latest generation 8397 automotive-grade chip, offering a 3x improvement in CPU performance, nearly 3x in GPU performance, and 12x in NPU performance compared to the 8295 chip. Additionally, the new car features 896-line LiDAR and comes standard with Huawei Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 5 across all trims.
In terms of dimensions, the Freelander 8 measures 5118 (5185)/2050/1898 mm in length/width/height, with a wheelbase of 3040 mm, and adopts a 6-seat layout. The powertrain uses an extended-range electric form, equipped with a 1.5T engine producing a maximum power of 115 kW. The vehicle features the i-ATS intelligent all-terrain system, capable of predicting road conditions in milliseconds, and is paired with a front mechanical differential lock, rear e-LSD limited-slip differential, virtual center lock, and closed dual-chamber air suspension. The new car will be available in multiple versions including Pro, Max, and Max+, equipped with a battery pack with a capacity of 60.331 kWh, offering a pure electric range of 221 km.
