en.Wedoany.com Reported - Saint-Gobain (headquartered in Courbevoie, France) has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a fiberglass plant in Lexington, North Carolina, from Electric Glass Fiber America (EGFA), a subsidiary of Nippon Electric Glass. The plant has long supplied high-quality raw materials for the production of glass mat used by CertainTeed's roofing and gypsum businesses under Saint-Gobain North America. Glass mat is a key component of asphalt shingles and gypsum wallboard. This acquisition will help Saint-Gobain North America better control its supply chain and maintain consistency while upholding high product quality standards.

The acquisition is expected to close on July 31, 2026. As part of the transaction, approximately 90 EGFA employees will immediately transfer to Saint-Gobain's ADFORS business, which focuses on construction and industrial fiberglass and textiles, and the plant will continue normal operations. The 1.2 million-square-foot Lexington facility, which began production in 1967, sits on 203 acres. The newly acquired site expands Saint-Gobain North America's manufacturing footprint in North Carolina, where the company already operates plants in Claremont, Oxford, and Roxboro.
