RJD America is currently restoring the Chesapeake & Ohio 4-8-4 No. 614 locomotive.
The NREPF was founded to connect the public with heritage industries and historic railroads. The foundation states that the American railroad industry is closely tied to hard work, highly skilled craftsmen, and a proactive attitude, and thus NREPF brings these elements together by focusing on education, restoration, and preservation. As a partner for C&O No. 614, the foundation will support the operation of its steam locomotive and passenger cars.
Under the cooperation agreement, NREPF will provide opportunities for railroad enthusiasts and preservation-minded individuals to participate in educational, volunteer, and public outreach activities related to C&O No. 614 and other historic railroad equipment.
NREPF operates independently of RJD America. RJD America retains full ownership and project management responsibility for C&O No. 614 and its associated fleet of equipment, including the locomotive's restoration, maintenance, and future operations.
