en.Wedoany.com Reported - Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim revealed that the Phase 1 project of the Sarawak Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) hydrogen hub will be completed by the end of this year.

Anwar stated that the project is part of Malaysia's National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), with all construction work progressing in an orderly and efficient manner.

After chairing the National Energy Council meeting that day, he posted on social media that Malaysia's nationwide public transport electrification projects are proceeding as planned, with 250 electric buses deployed and 800 kilometers of new rail lines added to the rail network.

"As of last December, Malaysia's renewable energy installed capacity accounted for 31% of the total, as the country continues to reduce its reliance on coal, with clean energy development steadily advancing."

He added that the Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS) has achieved significant results, with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) now in place, further supporting Malaysia's clean energy transition.

Participants in the meeting included Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof.

On the transport front, Anwar noted that the promotion of B15 biodiesel continues, and the PETRONAS biofuel hub in Pengerang will provide further support for the adoption of sustainable alternative fuels.

Anwar emphasized that given the current geopolitical volatility and frequent disruptions in the global energy supply chain, Malaysia must be fully prepared to safeguard its long-term energy security.

"Based on this, the government will conduct studies to assess the necessity and supporting plans for establishing a national petroleum reserve, thereby enhancing the country's energy resilience."
