en.Wedoany.com Reported - India's first domestically developed hydrogen train has officially entered service, supported by a hydrogen production and refueling station independently built by the joint venture GreenH Electrolysis, which provides daily hydrogen supply for the train. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the train in Jind, Haryana.

GreenH Electrolysis is a joint venture between green hydrogen technology company H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies and North India-based Castlegreen Energy. The refueling station is equipped with 1 MW electrolysis equipment, producing 420 kg of green hydrogen daily, with a total on-site hydrogen storage capacity of 3,000 kg, fully meeting the daily refueling needs of the railway.
Dhiman Roy, CEO and Director of GreenH Electrolysis, stated that the official launch of India's first hydrogen train marks a significant milestone in the history of clean energy development. The company independently designed and delivered the complete hydrogen production and refueling infrastructure, providing core support. The 1 MW electrolyzer was manufactured at the Jajhar plant in Haryana, with core technology originating from parent company H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies, ensuring a stable daily output of 420 kg of green hydrogen for round-the-clock station operations. Roy also noted that the company will continue to collaborate with the Indian government and industry partners to improve hydrogen infrastructure and promote decarbonization in transportation and other hard-to-abate sectors.
Indian Railways previously awarded Medha Servo Drives the contract to convert diesel multiple units on the Sonipat-Jind route into hydrogen-powered trains. Medha Servo Drives subsequently commissioned GreenH Electrolysis to undertake the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the entire hydrogen production and refueling station. The station is an integrated turnkey project, incorporating process design, electrical systems, intelligent instrumentation and control, and a full suite of high-end safety equipment. It features the largest integrated hydrogen storage and refueling system currently deployed by Indian Railways, including 3,000 kg hydrogen storage tanks, hydrogen compressors, and refueling dispensers with integrated pre-cooling modules.
In addition to supporting the operation of the existing hydrogen train line, the station also showcases India's indigenous technological innovation capabilities. It not only accelerates the realization of India's green hydrogen development goals but also provides strong support for achieving the Viksit Bharat vision.
