This project, a greenfield development, aims to lay the foundation for the company's further growth. Jungheinrich is providing an integrated complete solution, encompassing an automated miniload warehouse (automated bin warehouse), an automated pallet warehouse, and modern warehouse management software.

Eisenhart Laeppché GmbH has commissioned Jungheinrich to plan and build this distribution center. Due to the continuous growth in order volumes in the small parts sector, the previous manual picking method has become increasingly economically unsustainable. The company also aims to improve the ergonomics of workstations and continuously optimize processes. The new distribution center will address these needs and create additional capacity for growth.

The core of this integrated automation solution is an automated miniload warehouse with 14,904 double-deep storage container locations. Three STC 2B1A stacker cranes handle the fully automated storage and retrieval of containers, combining high travel dynamics with an energy-efficient drive concept for efficient operation. This miniload warehouse is complemented by an automated very narrow aisle (AutoVNA) pallet warehouse with 3,870 storage locations, where two automated EKX 516ka narrow-aisle forklifts ensure precise and efficient processes in high racking. The entire system is installed within an internal building with a usable height of 9.7 meters.

Six ergonomically designed goods-to-person picking workstations (four for containers and two for pallets) ensure efficient and employee-friendly workflows. Jungheinrich's scope of supply also includes the complete container and pallet conveyor system, a higher-level control system with visualization, and the Jungheinrich Warehouse Management System (WMS) for end-to-end control of all storage and material flow processes. The racking system and workstation equipment complete the overall solution.

The system was designed from the outset with future expansion in mind: the miniload warehouse can be expanded by two additional aisles, and the automated very narrow aisle warehouse can accommodate up to three more EKX 516ka forklifts, providing Eisenhart Laeppché with reliable performance and capacity reserves. The decision to choose Jungheinrich was based on a long-standing relationship of trust and the concept phase solution provided by Jungheinrich Material Flow Consulting.

Hendrik Laeppché, Managing Director of Eisenhart Laeppché GmbH, stated that given the company's growth, the previous manual picking had reached its economic and organizational limits. The new automated solution will provide significantly more efficient processes, additional capacity, and shorter delivery times, while improving working conditions for employees. Klaus-Peter Wolters, Head of Technical Sales at Jungheinrich, added that this integrated solution, combining a miniload warehouse and an automated very narrow aisle warehouse, offers the performance and scalability required for further growth, along with high energy efficiency. Commissioning of the entire system is planned for the second quarter of 2027.
