en.Wedoany.com Reported - PD Ports has installed and commissioned a new 675 kW solar photovoltaic system on the roof of its largest warehouse at the Tees Bulk Terminal. The system comprises 2,000 solar panels and over 20 kilometers of cabling, aiming to reduce operational carbon emissions and decrease reliance on grid electricity.

The new system is expected to generate approximately 900,000 kWh of renewable electricity annually, enough to meet the electricity needs of 330 UK households for an entire year. The implementation of this project is projected to reduce Teesport's dependence on grid power by about 10% and cut Scope 2 carbon emissions by 118 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per year.

Project engineer Darren Coleman stated that the successful implementation of these projects demonstrates what can be achieved through strong leadership, effective collaboration with stakeholders, and a shared focus on sustainable development. The team is proud to have implemented these infrastructure improvements, which deliver long-term operational and environmental benefits while supporting broader sustainability goals.

This is the latest in a series of projects by PD Ports in Teesside, covering Teesport, Tees Commerce Park, Billingham, and Groveport. Overall, these solar panels generate approximately 1,590,000 kWh of electricity per year, reducing Scope 2 emissions by 208.22 tonnes of CO2 equivalent annually, with more projects underway.
