en.Wedoany.com Reported - DP World has reached a preliminary agreement with the Fujairah Port Authority to obtain a 50-year concession for two new terminals on the UAE's east coast. These terminals are the Al Rugaylat Container and Multi-Purpose Terminal and the Dibba General Cargo Terminal.

The project will develop a new commercial deep-water port on the UAE's east coast, capable of handling the latest generation of ultra-large container vessels. The Al Rugaylat Terminal is designed with an annual handling capacity of 2.5 million TEUs, 1.7 million tons of general cargo, and 190,000 CEUs; the Dibba Terminal will add up to 3.6 million tons of annual general cargo handling capacity.

Saleh Bin Mohamed Al Sharqi, Chairman of the Fujairah Port Authority, stated that the partnership with DP World is a milestone in Fujairah's continued development as one of the most important maritime gateways in the region. He believes these two terminals will bring world-class operational capabilities, greater throughput, and new investment to the emirate. Essa Kazim, Chairman of DP World, noted that this investment reflects the company's confidence in the UAE's future as a major global trade and logistics hub. Leveraging the advantages of Jebel Ali, the project will strengthen DP World's commitment to the UAE and consolidate the country's strategic role in global trade.

Once operational, the project will increase DP World's total container handling capacity in the UAE from 19.4 million TEUs to nearly 22 million TEUs, while significantly boosting general cargo and roll-on/roll-off transport capacity.
