According to the sector's information, the construction of shower and sanitary facilities, as well as a recreational vehicle parking area, will commence in August this year. The project also includes the installation of vehicle access barriers and the improvement of surrounding green spaces. On the other hand, the construction of new facilities is currently in the bidding phase. This is a public tender, expected to begin implementation within the next two months. The sector's statement adds that the investment for this phase of the project is approximately US$1,277,883.

La Paloma Port is the first port on Uruguay's Atlantic coast, primarily serving the fishing industry and coastal transportation. The port also functions as a supply and shelter hub for large oil tankers, with several vessels flying domestic and foreign flags currently docked there. Meanwhile, the National Port Administration of Uruguay (ANP) is also advancing the resumption of dredging operations at the port to restore the dock area affected by severe siltation, having successfully completed the testing and verification of key dredger systems in the preliminary phase.

These interventions will help optimize conditions for artisanal fishing and strengthen the services and facilities for fishing vessels, sports boats, coastal vessels, as well as workers, users, and tourists.
