en.Wedoany.com Reported - Indian automotive components manufacturer Samvardhana Motherson International (Motherson) has acquired 81% of the voting shares of Japanese automotive and motorcycle parts manufacturer Yutaka Giken (YGCL), marking the latest step in its strategy to diversify its portfolio and expand capabilities in advanced automotive technologies.
The acquisition was completed on July 21, 2026, following YGCL's repurchase of shares held by Honda Motor Co., Ltd. Upon completion of the transaction, Motherson holds 81% of YGCL's shares through its indirect wholly-owned subsidiary Motherson Global Investments BV (MGI BV), with Honda retaining the remaining 19% stake.
As part of the deal, YGCL has begun operating under the name Motherson Yutaka, reflecting its integration into the Motherson Group. The company stated that this marks a significant milestone in its strategic growth and diversification journey toward its Vision 2030 goals.

Yutaka Giken is a Japan-based automotive supplier listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, specializing in precision metal parts and components. Its product portfolio includes rotor and stator assemblies for electric vehicle and hybrid vehicle motors, braking systems, driveline systems, and exhaust systems.
The acquisition is expected to enhance Motherson's capabilities as the automotive industry transitions toward electrification and advanced mobility technologies. The deal also deepens Motherson's long-standing partnership with Honda, which will continue as a strategic shareholder in YGCL following the acquisition. Motherson stated that it will leverage Yutaka Giken's technology and engineering capabilities to create opportunities for innovation and sustainable growth in its global operations.
As part of the original transaction announced in August 2025, Motherson also agreed to acquire 100% of the shares and voting rights of Yutaka Autoparts India Private Limited from Yutaka Giken. Motherson Global Investments B.V. also agreed to acquire an 11% stake in Yutaka Giken's subsidiary, Japan's Shinnichi Kogyo Co., Ltd.
