en.Wedoany.com Reported - From July 20 to 21, the completion ceremony for the Solar-Diesel-Storage Microgrid Project across 26 islands in Raa Atoll and Baa Atoll, Maldives (the Raa&Baa Project), undertaken by Zhongteng Microgrid, was held, and the project was officially put into operation.

The Minister of Climate Change, Environment and Energy of the Maldives, the Senior Energy Specialist from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) headquarters, the General Manager of Fenaka Corporation, the General Manager of Zhongteng Microgrid as the contractor's representative, as well as representatives from local island councils and residents, attended the ceremony and jointly completed the commemorative handover of cooperation.

During the completion ceremony, guests from all parties visited the project's central control room. The technical team of Zhongteng Microgrid demonstrated the self-developed EMS Smart Energy Management System on site and explained the coordinated dispatch and operation mechanism of solar power generation, diesel power generation, and the energy storage system.

The Raa&Baa Project is the third microgrid project implemented by Zhongteng Microgrid in the Maldives and falls under the Preparing Outer Islands for Sustainable Energy Development (POISED) project, a key initiative promoted by the Maldivian government. The project covers 26 inhabited islands, with construction content including the development of solar-diesel-storage microgrid systems and the upgrade and renovation of existing power stations, upgrading the original diesel-only power generation model into an integrated smart microgrid power supply system combining solar, diesel, and storage. The project has a total installed capacity of 6.35MWp, with a supporting energy storage system capacity of 12MWh.

The project adopts the EMS Energy Management System independently developed by Zhongteng Microgrid for the coordinated dispatch of the solar power generation system, diesel power generation system, and energy storage system, ensuring the safe and stable operation of the island power systems. After the project is put into operation, it is expected to reduce island fuel consumption, lower carbon emissions, and continuously improve the quality of electricity for local residents. Zhongteng Microgrid stated that it will continue to participate in the construction of new energy microgrids on Maldivian islands in the future, promoting the green and low-carbon energy transition of the region.
