Australia's Benz Mining Reports 95-Metre Gold Intersection in Western Australia

(ASX: BNZ; TSX-V: BZ) announced the latest results from its systematic drilling program at the Icon deposit within the Glenburgh Gold Project in Western Australia. Infill drilling has identified northeast-plunging high-grade fold hinge zones that were previously unresolvable with wider-spaced drilling, while drill lines have been extended beyond the currently interpreted mineralized trend, providing potential for discovering new mineralized zones.

Highlights from the announced intersections include: hole 25GLR232 returned 95 metres at 4.3 g/t gold from 13 metres; hole 25GLR190 returned 29 metres at 8.8 g/t gold from 84 metres; hole 25GLR237 returned 47 metres at 5.1 g/t gold from 55 metres; and hole 25GLR196 returned 82 metres at 2.2 g/t gold from 32 metres. The company previously released an ASX announcement on January 28, 2026, disclosing intersections from the first identified high-grade hinge zones.

Under a base drilling pattern of 50 metres by 25 metres, the systematic drilling at the Icon deposit has not only increased confidence in known mineralization but also revealed new fold hinge zones and high-to-medium-grade ore shoots. These hinge zones were first identified by Benz in early 2026 and were not detected by earlier explorers' shallow, wider-spaced drilling. As geological resolution improves, mineralized structural positions that were not apparent in earlier wide-spaced drilling continue to emerge; the same structural framework has also been observed at the Hurricane zone, where repeatable northeast-plunging fold hinge zones are considered a key control on the distribution of high-grade gold at Glenburgh.

Geologically, Glenburgh is situated at a craton margin, where deep lithospheric faults form a crustal-scale structural architecture; mantle-derived intrusions provide heat and metal-rich hydrothermal fluids to the system; and active rocks and basin brines within the volcano-sedimentary basin provide an environment for gold trapping and enrichment. Multi-element geochemistry, geochronology, and systematic drilling are reconstructing a magmatic-hydrothermal alteration unit spanning approximately 20 kilometres, which transported and enriched gold, tungsten, and iron within the basin.

The next phase of drilling will complete the 50-metre by 25-metre baseline drilling across the three main zones—Hurricane, Icon, and Thunderbolt—with Thunderbolt having been drilled for the first time. The company is also advancing permitting and development activities, as well as re-assaying for tungsten. CEO Mark Lynch-Staunton stated that approximately 80% of the exploration target is now constrained by drilling, and the current focus is on completing baseline drilling and geological interpretation to support the delivery of an initial mineral resource estimate, which the company believes could rank among the largest initial gold resources reported on the ASX in recent years.
