en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 27, Canadian mining company NexGold released development progress at its Goldboro gold mine in Nova Scotia through mid-October. The company has completed design documents for early-stage earthworks construction, launched detailed design for site earthworks planned to begin in early 2027, and is advancing engineering design for the processing plant and procurement of long-lead equipment. Site preparation and early works construction began on September 17, and an updated feasibility study is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The early works are being carried out by Mi'kma'ki-Municipal Limited Partnership, with construction scope including sections of a public access bypass road, water crossing culverts, sediment and erosion control facilities, and tree clearing for the employee accommodation facility site, topsoil and organic material stockpile areas, settling ponds, and construction management facility areas. NexGold has also awarded seven site services contracts, many of which were secured by local Mi'kmaq Indigenous enterprises or joint ventures.

Detailed engineering design of the processing plant is progressing in parallel. Process flow diagrams, process design criteria, mass balance tables, and mechanical equipment lists have been completed and are in use for design, while the plant facility layout is being refined. The project has issued tender documents for 16 long-lead equipment procurement packages to potential suppliers, received bids for 13 of these packages, and plans to complete the first round of awards by the end of October. The design, construction, and operation contract for the employee accommodation facility has also entered the proposal review stage, with award expected later in the fourth quarter.

The updated feasibility study has completed the open-pit resource model and resource estimate, and a new mining plan has been developed. Geotechnical investigation reports for the processing plant site, infrastructure, tailings management facilities, and waste rock stockpiles have been completed, along with water balance calculations for the updated tailings facility layout. The company is conducting a final review of capital expenditure, operating costs, and financial models, and plans to evaluate the project's final investment decision based on the study results.
