en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 27, Canadian mining company Midnight Sun Mining announced the latest drilling results from the Dumbwa copper deposit in the Solwezi area of North-Western Province, Zambia. The near-surface copper mineralized zone discovered in the northern block of the project has an east-west width exceeding 2.4 kilometers, more than twice the average width of the previously drilled mineralized corridor. Assay results have been completed for a new batch of 76 drill holes, covering 17,373 meters of drilling, with one hole returning 31.1 meters at 0.47% copper; Phase 2 exploration continues to advance toward the northern part of the mining area.

The newly announced drilling results cover the northern, central, and southern blocks of the deposit. Hole DBW-26-283 intersected 31.1 meters at 0.47% copper from 59 meters to 90.1 meters depth, including 16 meters at 0.81% copper; hole DBW-26-261 intersected 11 meters at 0.67% copper from 13 meters to 24 meters depth. Hole DBW-26-355 returned 7 meters at 1.05% copper, while hole DBW-26-266 intersected 14 meters at 0.48% copper from 52 meters to 66 meters depth. The company estimates that the reported intersection lengths of the drill holes represent 85% to 100% of the true thickness of the mineralized zone.

Phase 1 field drilling at Dumbwa has been completed, with a total of 372 diamond drill holes and cumulative drilling exceeding 87,000 meters, confirming that copper sulfide mineralization extends more than 12 kilometers in the north-south direction. The northern extension drilling also found that the copper mineralized body generally exhibits a near-horizontal to gently dipping attitude, with increased mineralization thickness in some areas. The deposit lies within a copper soil geochemical anomaly zone approximately 20 kilometers long, and current drilling is further defining the northern extent of mineralization and the distribution of different grade domains.

Phase 2 exploration is currently focused on the northern block of the Dumbwa mineralized corridor, continuing diamond drilling and conducting soil sampling at the northern and southern ends of the deposit. Due to delays in sample analysis progress, assay results for approximately 5,000 samples corresponding to 70 drill holes are still being processed, of which 1,824 samples have been sent to a laboratory in Perth, Australia for priority analysis, and another 1,000 samples have been forwarded to Johannesburg, South Africa for sample preparation. Testing agency Intertek plans to complete the replacement of the pulverizing mill and the expansion of crushing equipment at its Kitwe sample preparation facility in Zambia by December 1.
