CATL, Dongfeng Nissan Partner on Battery Tech R&D, Market Expansion

Wedoany.com Report-Jun 3, On May 30, CATL announced through its WeChat account a strategic partnership with Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company in Shanghai. The agreement focuses on comprehensive collaboration in battery technology research, product development, and market expansion. Both parties aim to create an integrated approach to joint development, production, and marketing.

CATL will apply its advanced technologies, such as ultra-fast charging, the CATL Integrated Intelligent Chassis (CIIC), and 800V high-voltage platforms, to future Dongfeng Nissan models. By 2026, several new vehicle models featuring co-developed battery systems are expected to launch, providing consumers with diverse, high-quality new energy vehicle (NEV) options.

The collaboration will also explore innovative business models to drive advancements in NEV technology and accelerate market adoption. CATL and Dongfeng Nissan are committed to enhancing product offerings and promoting the growth of the NEV sector.

In a separate agreement, CATL signed a memorandum of enhanced cooperation with Honda Motor China Technology Co., Ltd. in mid-May. This builds on their existing partnership, deepening collaboration in technology research and supply chain management to support product innovation and improve user experience.

The enhanced partnership emphasizes lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, Cell-to-Body (CTB) integration, supply chain improvements, and the development of 12V and hybrid power batteries. CATL and Honda China will also explore new business models to support the ongoing development of the NEV industry.
