en.Wedoany.com Reported - Panther Metals (ASX: PNT) has identified 8 nickel-copper exploration targets based on the interpretation of high-resolution airborne magnetic survey data from its wholly-owned Red Flag Nickel Project. The project is located approximately 25 km west of Laverton, Western Australia.
Independent consulting firm Core Geophysics has rated two of the targets, RF1 and RF5, as having "high-prospectivity" magmatic nickel-copper mineralisation potential, with RF8 rated as "medium-high" grade.
The interpretation results indicate that parts of the project may preserve ultramafic intrusions within a predominantly granitoid geological setting. Panther Metals considers this consistent with exploration models elsewhere in the Windarra-Woodline nickel district.
RF1 is interpreted as a remnant ultramafic body within sheared granite, potentially retaining a basal contact zone; Core Geophysics described its discrete, high-amplitude magnetic response as the closest magnetic analogue to nickel mineralisation within the project. RF5 is similarly interpreted as an ultramafic remnant within granite, exhibiting a coherent magnetic high. RF8 corresponds to a low magnetic zone adjacent to a dyke, potentially reflecting the interaction between geological structures and rock types.
The remaining five targets have prospectivity ratings ranging from moderate to low.
Chief Executive Officer Daniel Tuffin stated that these results provide a framework for prioritising follow-up exploration. The company's next step will be to review the findings alongside historical exploration data before determining the most appropriate target investigation plan.
Core Geophysics recommends cross-referencing the interpretation results with historical exploration data before field work commences. It is anticipated that targeted ground electromagnetic surveys will focus on RF1 and RF5, with RF8 and RF7 considered for follow-up work if necessary; geochemical sampling and geological mapping may also be undertaken before targets advance to the drilling stage.
Panther Metals is a Western Australian gold and nickel exploration company holding five projects around Laverton.
