Ternium invests over 12 million pesos to deliver water infrastructure in Michoacán, Mexico

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Steel company Ternium has delivered a new water infrastructure project to the Aquila municipal government and the San Miguel de Aquila indigenous community in Michoacán, Mexico, designed to optimize the circulation and supply of non-potable water across multiple blocks in the municipal center, directly benefiting local residents.

The project, with an investment exceeding 12 million pesos, includes drilling a 100-meter-deep well, installing two water tanks with capacities of 550 cubic meters and 115 cubic meters respectively, and laying the associated distribution pipeline network. The new system addresses a long-standing issue in the area—during the dry season, households had to rely on water tanker trucks or fetch water directly from the river.

At the delivery ceremony, attendees included Ternium's Mining Human Resources and Community Relations Director Gustavo Meade, Senior Project Manager Zenón Araujo, Senior Mining Operations Manager Juan José Deniz, as well as Aquila Mayor José María Valencia and Public Property Committee President Uriel de la Cruz.

At the ceremony, Meade stated that a community cannot function without water, and that the project aims to meet Aquila's current and future water needs—beyond the investment itself, what matters most is the impact on residents' quality of life. Mayor José María Valencia called the project a decisive step forward, while acknowledging that work remains to be done.

Under the subsequent arrangements, the Aquila municipal government will be responsible for expanding the distribution pipeline network to extend non-potable water coverage to all households in the municipal center. Local water committee member Filiberto Sandoval noted that the project will reduce the community's reliance on water tanker trucks, bringing greater peace of mind to residents.
