90% of the 34-kilometer water supply network in Sharjah, UAE completed
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 13, the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) of the UAE announced that the water supply network project in the Rawdat Al Qarat area has been approximately 90% completed. Construction of the project began in March 2026, with a total length of more than 34 kilometers of newly built water supply pipelines and a total investment of nearly 13 million dirhams. It is scheduled for full completion in November 2026. Once completed, the project will further expand the local water supply coverage and meet the new water demand generated by new district development and population growth.

The project mainly involves the construction of a new urban water distribution network, adopting modern pipes and construction standards suitable for drinking water transmission and distribution, so as to improve the operational stability of the network, reduce water transmission losses and maintain water supply quality. SEWA stated that the project construction is currently progressing generally according to the established plan, with the remaining construction content to be completed within the next two months, along with pipeline connections and preparations for commissioning.
The Rawdat Al Qarat project primarily serves the new urban areas under development in Sharjah. As local residential and urban construction continues to advance, the existing infrastructure needs to expand its water supply capacity accordingly. The newly built 34-kilometer pipeline network will form a new regional water distribution system, enabling new residences, public facilities and other urban construction projects to connect to the city's water supply system, while also enhancing the network's carrying capacity for future expansion in the area.
This project is also part of Sharjah's continuous expansion of urban water infrastructure in recent years. In 2026, SEWA has advanced new construction and renovation water supply projects in multiple areas, including industrial zones, new residential areas and pipeline network upgrades in existing urban districts. The previously completed Al Zubair and Hay Al Dabdaba water supply projects have a total pipeline length of approximately 37 kilometers, with an investment of more than 25 million dirhams; the multiple pipeline network projects completed and advanced in the first quarter have a cumulative construction scale of approximately 70 kilometers.
According to the current progress, the Rawdat Al Qarat water supply project will reach the milestone of full completion in November 2026. The focus of the project's subsequent work will be on the remaining pipeline construction, network connections, system testing and official water supply, providing stable municipal water supply conditions for the subsequent residential and urban infrastructure development in the area.
