en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 26, the San Antonio Water System (SAWS) in Texas, USA, launched the East Hildebrand Avenue water main replacement project, planning to renew approximately 4,600 feet (about 1,402 meters) of aging pipeline, with construction extending from McCullough Avenue to Devine Road. The project uses high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe and is expected to be completed in March 2027. The project is part of SAWS's water main renewal program covering three construction areas with a total budget of approximately USD 11.3 million.

Construction crews carried out preliminary preparations from October 21 on the section from McCullough Avenue to Shook Avenue, and began construction at 3:00 a.m. on October 26 from the intersection of McCullough Avenue and East Hildebrand Avenue. The project adopts a phased construction approach, implementing old pipe replacement and connections between new and old water mains. Some construction sections are subject to full-day closures, and temporary water service interruptions are arranged during pipe connections.

The HDPE pipe used in the project was selected for the local complex soil conditions, and SAWS expects its service life to exceed 100 years. The project was approved by the SAWS Board of Directors on September 1, 2026, and entered the on-site construction phase in October.
