en.Wedoany.com Reported - Russia has received its first shipment of gasoline from India to address fuel shortages caused by Ukrainian attacks on its refining facilities. The approximately 68,000-ton cargo of gasoline, produced at Nayara Energy's refinery in Vadinar, western India, was shipped to Russia's Arctic port of Vitino after a ship-to-ship transfer off Port Said, Egypt.

At present, gas stations in at least 10 Russian regions have imposed purchase limits or are experiencing partial fuel supply shortages, with the Moscow region also affected. Since early August, gasoline sales volumes on the St. Petersburg Exchange have declined by an average of 20%.

Russia had previously filled domestic gaps by importing gasoline from Belarus. With refinery shutdowns reducing available domestic fuel volumes, Russia is now shipping gasoline and diesel by sea from Asia. Two more gasoline cargoes from India are expected to arrive in the coming weeks.

Ukraine has been striking Russia's refining system throughout the summer. The most recent major facility damaged is the 120,000-barrel-per-day Orsk refinery, which was hit on August 11 and may remain offline for up to six months, exacerbating fuel supply tensions in the Urals region.

Russia is simultaneously reducing fuel exports. Calculations based on LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) data show that Russia's seaborne oil product exports in July fell by 33.3% compared to June, and by 54.7% compared to July 2025, due to reduced exportable volumes from refinery shutdowns.

Nayara's Vadinar refinery is a major buyer of Russian crude oil, but it could not be confirmed whether the gasoline shipped to Vitino was produced from Russian crude.
