en.Wedoany.com Reported - Castrol recently announced that its Castrol ON PG25 and PG25T coolants, designed for direct-to-chip cooling, have passed NVIDIA's validation for AI factories and data center infrastructure. This validation result can serve as a reference for data center operators, equipment manufacturers, and cooling system suppliers during their selection process.

The computing demands of AI and high-performance computing continue to drive up power density in data centers, making traditional air-cooling solutions increasingly inadequate for meeting heat dissipation requirements. Direct-to-Chip cooling technology achieves efficient heat exchange by pumping liquid through cold plates mounted on heat-generating components such as CPUs and GPUs. The Castrol ON PG25 series, which has passed NVIDIA's validation, was developed specifically for this application. As a closed system, the coolant does not come into contact with the atmosphere during circulation, reducing water loss from evaporation and helping to improve water usage efficiency (WUE) in AI facilities.

This technical review covered corrosion resistance, thermal stability, dilution water quality, purity of the propylene glycol base fluid, and compatibility with wetted materials—namely, the compatibility performance with metals, plastics, seals, and other components that come into contact within the coolant circuit. The review also assessed Castrol's business operations and global supply chain resilience.

Peter Huang, Global President of Thermal Management and Data Centers at Castrol, stated that as AI infrastructure scales up, the industry requires reliable cooling solutions capable of long-term operation. The inclusion of Castrol ON PG25 and PG25T in the "NVIDIA-Validated AI Factory Infrastructure" list strengthens customer confidence in the fluid's performance and Castrol's global supply capabilities. Sung A. Kim, the company's Global Data Center Technology Manager, added that every thermal management fluid undergoes rigorous testing before being brought to market, and NVIDIA's validation demonstrates that PG25 (OAT) and PG25T (IAT) are capable of handling the scale and intensity encountered in current AI infrastructure operations.

Castrol, part of the bp group, provides lubricants and greases for the automotive, marine, industrial, and energy sectors. Its thermal management business unit develops liquid cooling solutions for data centers and energy storage systems under the Castrol ON brand, serving markets including the United States, Europe, the Middle East, China, Australia, and Southeast Asia.
