McLaren wins £85m office rebuild in the UK, completion set for 2029
en.Wedoany.com Reported - The winner has been confirmed for the £85 million Faryners House refurbishment project, with McLaren securing the contract to rebuild a 1970s office block on the site where the Great Fire of London began.
Located at 25 Monument Street, McLaren beat Mace and Morgan Sindall in the bidding process. The project, designed by Fletcher Priest Architects, received full planning permission in April this year, and is being developed by Monument Estates—founded by Neal Pickering, former head of development at Aviva.

The building will have a total gross floor area of 97,000 square feet, with 10 above-ground floors and multiple levels featuring external terraces. The structure is cubic in form, stepping down from Pudding Lane towards the side facing the Monument. Construction is expected to be completed in spring 2029.
Other parties involved in the project include cost consultant Exigere, project management firm Blackburn & Co, and structural engineer London Structures Lab.
Faryners House is named after Thomas Farriner, whose bakery on Pudding Lane was the starting point of the Great Fire of London in September 1666, which destroyed around 80% of the City of London.
Fletcher Priest states that the scheme will improve the surroundings of the nearby Monument—built in the 1670s to commemorate the fire—and partially recreate the square that originally encircled it.
In early summer this year, John F Hunt won the demolition and preliminary works contract for the site, seeing off competing bids from Erith, Morrisroe, and Deconstruct.
This month, Mace also participated in the bidding for the redevelopment project at 10–20 Victoria Street in London's Victoria district, as one of three bidders. The project involves rebuilding two buildings: 10–18 Victoria Street and 20 Victoria Street.
The scheme has been designed by Piercy & Co for Meadow Partners, a real estate investment management firm headquartered in London and New York. Bovis and Bam are also pricing the project, which is valued at over £150 million, with the winner expected to be announced later this year.
