Southern California's Ontario International Airport surpasses 4 million passengers in first seven months of 2026

Atif Elkadi, Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario International Airport Authority, stated that the airport continues to demonstrate its strength and resilience, as well as that of the market it serves; with more than 4 million passengers having traveled through ONT this year, international passenger traffic has grown by nearly 37% amid significant headwinds facing U.S. international travel. This growth reflects the region's strength, airline partners' confidence in the market, and ONT's continued rise as one of Southern California's most important aviation gateways.

The airlines with the highest passenger shares in July were: Southwest Airlines at 34.4%, American Airlines at 14.8%, Frontier Airlines at 11.9%, Alaska Airlines at 11.1%, and Delta Air Lines at 9.4%.

Total air cargo volume for the month was 75,222 tons, up 3.5% year-over-year, including 63,993 tons of freight, up 3.5%, and 11,229 tons of mail, up 3.6%. Year-to-date cargo volume totaled 503,439 tons, up 7.0% year-over-year, including 432,916 tons of freight, up 10.0%, and 70,523 tons of mail, down 8.4%.

Ontario International Airport has been rated the second most popular medium-sized airport by J.D. Power, serving more than 7 million passengers annually and offering nonstop flights to 24 major airports across the United States, Mexico, Central America, and the Taiwan region. The airport is owned and operated by the Ontario International Airport Authority, a joint powers agreement between the City of Ontario and San Bernardino County.
