American Transportation Research Institute Launches 2026 Top Industry Issues Survey on August 24
en.Wedoany.com Reported - The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) launched its annual industry issues survey on August 24, 2026, asking trucking industry stakeholders to prioritize the top issues currently facing the sector and propose potential strategies to address each. The survey results will be released on October 18, 2026, at the American Trucking Associations (ATA) Management Conference & Exhibition in Charlotte, North Carolina.
This marks the 22nd consecutive year ATRI has conducted this annual analysis. In addition to providing an overall ranking of issues, ATRI presents the rankings separately for motor carriers and truck drivers, comparing priority differences across perspectives; the report also tracks how issue prominence has shifted over time, helping the industry identify which concerns are rising or falling in importance.
Greg Hodgen, Chairman of the American Trucking Associations and CEO of Groendyke Transport, Inc., stated that this annual issues list serves as an important reference for understanding the current state of the trucking industry. The rankings ATRI compiles each year not only reflect the major challenges facing the industry but also guide the association's advocacy efforts, focusing them on developing actionable solutions; additionally, the list provides guidance for influential policymakers on how to support transportation professionals.
Bob Bramwell, an America's Road Team Captain and professional truck driver at ABF Freight, reminded his peers that ATRI's annual survey gives truck drivers a collective voice. He noted that issues such as truck parking shortages, driver compensation, detention at customer facilities, driver training, and infrastructure can all gain external attention through this survey, and encouraged drivers to spend a few minutes completing the online questionnaire and to spread the word to fellow drivers.
Industry stakeholders can complete the 2026 survey online, with the questionnaire remaining open through October 2, 2026. ATRI is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit research organization for the trucking industry, conducting ongoing research on the role of freight in maintaining a safe, reliable, and efficient transportation system.
