Abu Dhabi Department of Energy Signs Multiple Technology Cooperation MOUs in the U.S.
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 22, the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy delegation concluded its visit to the United States, during which it signed multiple memoranda of understanding with regulatory, academic, and technology partners. The cooperation covers electricity and water regulation, artificial intelligence, advanced technology applications, energy and water network transformation, system resilience building, and research and development of future energy systems.

The delegation, led by Abdulla Humaid Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, held meetings in Boston, New York, and California with universities, research centers, regulatory bodies, as well as technology, investment, and infrastructure companies. The two sides developed cooperation agendas covering regulatory framework updates, network reliability, automation, quantum computing, and future technology investments.

The Abu Dhabi Department of Energy also discussed the establishment of an artificial intelligence laboratory with international universities and research institutions to develop and test technology solutions for energy and water systems. Research areas include electricity and water demand forecasting, resource scheduling, asset operations, network efficiency, and decision support, advancing relevant outcomes from the research and testing phase to practical facility applications.
Quantum computing has been included in the scope of water resource management cooperation, intended for optimizing water use efficiency, demand forecasting, and resource allocation. The two sides will also study expanding the application scope of automation in energy and water facilities, reducing system losses through intelligent monitoring and data processing, and enhancing the operational reliability of critical networks.
This cooperation also involves the Abu Dhabi Energy and Water Resilience Framework. The Abu Dhabi Department of Energy plans to bring in international regulatory, research, and technology institutions to participate in the implementation of the framework, establish mechanisms for knowledge exchange and application testing, and invite relevant institutions to attend the Abu Dhabi Water and Power Week in 2026 to continue advancing technology validation and cooperative project design.
