COMAX France 57MW/114MWh Energy Storage Portfolio Commissioned in France

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 25, a batch of battery energy storage systems totaling 57MW/114MWh operated by COMAX France, a subsidiary of MET Group, was put into operation. These storage assets are distributed across 10 sites in France, all connected to local distribution networks. Following the commissioning, COMAX France's operational battery storage capacity in France has increased to over 86MW/143MWh, expanding to approximately four times its previous scale.

These storage projects were developed progressively over the past approximately three years, with French energy technology company Entech undertaking the overall EPC work, responsible for engineering design, procurement, and construction. In terms of equipment configuration, the projects adopt CATL Pods battery energy storage units and SMA inverters. All 10 sites are now in operational status.

The project construction timeline can be traced further back to 2025. According to COMAX France's related corporate documents, its subsidiary ESS INVEST 1 signed a construction contract for the 57MW/114MWh energy storage facility in February 2025, with plans at that time for commissioning in 2026. In March of the same year, COMAX France and ESS INVEST 1 also signed a loan agreement with MET Asset Management Holding AG related to the financing of the third batch of energy storage projects. The commissioning of this 57MW/114MWh energy storage portfolio aligns with the previously announced construction scale and commissioning schedule.

MET Group completed the acquisition of 100% of COMAX France's shares in November 2024, marking its first investment in French energy infrastructure. At the time of acquisition, COMAX France operated approximately 29MW of battery storage assets while holding a reserve of several hundred MW of storage projects at various stages of development. With the commissioning of this additional 57MW of storage assets, its operational storage scale in France has further expanded.

The newly commissioned storage facilities will participate in France's power system flexibility services, providing storage capacity for renewable energy integration and grid regulation. MET Group is also currently advancing the development and acquisition of standalone and hybrid battery storage projects paired with renewable energy projects in other European markets.
