67 Projects in Alatau City, Kazakhstan, to Attract $6.9 Billion in Investment

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 26, the Kazakh government convened a meeting of the Alatau City Committee to update progress on investment and infrastructure projects in the new city. The current project portfolio in Alatau City has grown to 67 projects, with a total planned investment of approximately $6.9 billion, expected to create around 55,000 jobs. PepsiCo and Sunny Paper projects are in the implementation phase, while manufacturing and logistics projects such as Mars Petcare KZ, Griffin Logopark, DanaFlex, and G-Trans Service have been launched.

Among them, the Iconic Complex is in the preparation phase for construction, while KIND K-Smart Town continues to advance. Alatau City has prepared a comprehensive development plan for a 330-hectare area, with a planned total building area of 5.3 million square meters. The relevant master plan and feasibility study are scheduled for completion by the end of 2026. On July 1 this year, the government announced an investment portfolio for Alatau City comprising 53 projects, valued at approximately 2 trillion tenge and expected to create around 51,000 jobs; following this update, the number of projects has increased to 67.

The new batch of reserve projects includes Full Vision Capital's sustainable aviation fuel and green energy facilities, a research branch of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, as well as logistics, data center, and digital infrastructure projects proposed by China International Marine Containers (Group) Co., Ltd. A high-tech agricultural complex by China National Machinery Industry Corporation has also entered preliminary research. Alatau City has also formed partial cooperation arrangements regarding Hyundai Green Food's production and logistics complex, Lotte Hotels & Resorts' participation in Iconic Tower, Doosan Enerbility's energy projects, Korea Airports Corporation's urban air mobility, and Hyundai Motor Company's smart mobility and hydrogen technology.

In terms of urban supporting facilities, there are currently 26 engineering and transportation infrastructure projects. The renovation of the Kokpa-1 substation has entered the construction and installation stage; some water supply and drainage projects are nearing completion, while contractors have been selected for the remaining projects. Road works plan medium-scale repairs for 61.2 kilometers of existing roads and the construction of 15 kilometers of new highways. Funding for related infrastructure is planned to be shared by fiscal funds, public-private partnerships, and private and quasi-public sector investment.

Alatau City also plans to launch its first batch of asset tokenization projects by the end of 2026, with a total scale of up to $10 million. To date, 43 Kazakhstani and international companies have expressed interest in participating. The city's 2040 strategic master plan and 2055 long-term development plan are currently being drafted, and regulatory documents related to the business environment and digital assets are scheduled to be finalized by the end of this year.
