China's First Mobile Vehicle-Mounted Token Factory Debuts

At this year's expo, China's first mobile vehicle-mounted token factory made its debut. Equipped with domestically produced computing power and energy management systems, it can more flexibly match the computing power demands of artificial intelligence while exploring a new model of computing-electricity coordination, which both facilitates the consumption of renewable energy and reduces computing operation costs.

This mobile vehicle-mounted token factory adopts a standardized 40-foot container. The entire vehicle features an integrated design combining electricity, computing, cooling, storage, and networking. The tractor can be an electric-powered truck, supporting the deployment of 9 server cabinets. It is equipped with integrated quick-connect interfaces for power and communications, enabling rapid multi-vehicle networking and deployment to form a mobile computing cluster. From arrival and connection to the completion of commissioning and operation, it takes only 6-8 hours.

Yang Duotong, an engineer at the Electric Computing Engineering Company of China Southern Power Grid Digital Research Institute, explained that a 120-kilowatt power supply can provide approximately 50P to 100P of computing power, theoretically capable of supporting inference tasks for two major domestic large models. It can be rapidly deployed to substations, distributed renewable energy power stations, and zero-carbon parks.

When low-price electricity is generated during periods of high renewable energy output, the computing power vehicle can be moved to a nearby substation for connection, enhancing renewable energy consumption and reducing computing operation costs. According to estimates, adopting mobile computing access can reduce overall costs by about 25%, enabling the production of more cost-effective tokens to serve downstream applications in various scenarios.

The mobile vehicle-mounted token factory can achieve rapid station-level deployment, providing emergency computing power. It can also offer flexible, nearby computing power during the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects, meeting the rigid demand for flexible, low-latency computing power and enabling computing power to follow the tokens.

Hu Rong, General Manager of China Southern Power Grid Digital Grid Research Institute, believes that future data centers will be configured in certain proportions. For example, a future four-story computing center might have three stories of fixed infrastructure and one story of mobile infrastructure. Whether it is the demand for electricity, customer needs, or manufacturing requirements, it can be moved to the customer's side. Currently, China Southern Power Grid is continuously iterating, and the overall return on investment will continue to improve in the future.
