Goldwind Signs 78MW Wind Turbine Supply Agreement in Turkey

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 31, Goldwind announced that it has signed a cooperation agreement with İnova Elektrik Üretim Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., a wind energy company under Gülsan Holding, to supply 13 GW165-6.0MW HH110 permanent magnet direct-drive wind turbines for the expansion project of the Metristepe Wind Farm in Turkey, adding 78MW of installed capacity.

The Metristepe Wind Farm is located in the Bozüyük district of Bilecik Province, Turkey, with an existing installed capacity of 40MW. According to statistics from the Turkish Wind Energy Association, Phase I of the project is equipped with 16 Nordex N100 turbines with a unit capacity of 2.5MW, which were commissioned in 2011. Upon completion of this expansion, the total installed capacity of the wind farm will increase from 40MW to 118MW, nearly tripling the current scale.

The GW165-6.0MW turbines supplied for this project have a unit capacity of 6MW, adopt permanent magnet direct-drive technology, and feature a hub height of 110 meters. The total capacity of the 13 turbines corresponds to the project's newly added installed capacity of 78MW. Goldwind stated that this model will be used for the expansion of the Metristepe mountain wind farm and is configured for the local complex terrain and turbulent wind conditions; the company's guaranteed turbine availability rate exceeds 98%.

The Metristepe Wind Farm is currently operated by İnova Elektrik. Turkey's Competition Authority approved İnova Elektrik's acquisition of the wind farm in September 2021, when the project's generation license and operating rights were held by Can Enerji Entegre Elektrik Üretim A.Ş.; Gülsan Holding subsequently incorporated Metristepe into its energy assets, and its website currently lists the wind farm's installed capacity as 40MW.

Since the beginning of this year, Goldwind has secured multiple wind power equipment orders in Turkey. In August, Aksa Renewable Energy, under Aksa Energy, signed a turbine supply contract with Goldwind for the Manisa wind-solar-storage hybrid project, with a wind power installed capacity of 82.16MWe/88MWm, equipped with a 90.5749MWh energy storage system, and the first batch of turbines is planned to be commissioned in May 2027.

In the same month, Goldwind also signed agreements with Fiba Renewables for the Tayakadin and Karadere wind power projects, supplying 4 GW165-6.0MW turbines totaling 24MW. As of the signing of these projects, Goldwind had 18 wind power projects in commercial operation in Turkey, with a cumulative installed capacity of 447.5MW.

Based on publicly disclosed 2026 projects, in addition to the 78MW Metristepe expansion project, Goldwind also signed an equipment contract for the 37.5MW D1 wind power project in June, and secured orders for the 24MW Fiba project and the 88MW Manisa project in August. These four projects correspond to a combined newly added wind power installed capacity of 227.5MW.
