Tata Power Renewable Energy Commissions 100 MW Solar Project in India
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) has commissioned a 100 MW group captive solar project in the Vellalankottai and Nalandhula villages of the Kayathar region in Tamil Nadu, India. The company is a subsidiary of The Tata Power Co. Ltd (Tata Power).

The clean power generated by the project will be supplied to TP Solar (40.625 MW), Tata Electronics (53.125 MW), and Tata Realty Infrastructure Ltd (6.25 MW). TP Solar is Tata Power's solar cell and module manufacturing division; Tata Electronics specializes in semiconductors, precision engineering, and advanced electronics; Tata Realty Infrastructure Ltd, as the Tata Group's real estate and infrastructure development arm, will leverage this project to decarbonize its operational processes.
With this commissioning, TPREL's utility-scale renewable energy portfolio has reached 12.3 GW, of which 7 GW is operational capacity, comprising 5.7 GW of solar and 1.3 GW of wind; the remaining 5.3 GW is at various stages of development, including 2.2 GW of solar and 3.1 GW of wind, scheduled to be commissioned in phases over the next 6 to 24 months.
The project is expected to generate 240.63 million units (MUs) of clean power annually and help offset approximately 150,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year.
TPREL stated that the project utilizes flexible terrain-compatible (FTC) single-axis tracker technology and 261,660 monocrystalline PERC bifacial solar modules to maximize power generation and enhance operational efficiency across varying terrain conditions.
