Russia's AZUR air approved to conduct off-wing maintenance for Boeing 767 engines

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 28, the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency approved the expansion of the scope of AZUR air's aviation maintenance organization certificate, adding a B1 category rating that allows the airline to perform technical maintenance on CF6-80C2 and PW4000-94 engines removed from aircraft. Both engine types are used on Boeing 767 series aircraft.

The approved scope of work includes scheduled engine maintenance, execution of service bulletins and modifications, disassembly and assembly of engine components and related piping, as well as engine preservation and storage. After engines are reinstalled on aircraft, AZUR air may also conduct ground runs covering all operating conditions. The B1 rating applies to off-wing engine maintenance and does not equate to full-process engine overhaul capability.

AZUR air submitted an application to expand its maintenance organization certificate to the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency on July 24 this year, while simultaneously upgrading its production facilities, equipment and tooling, process cards, and operating procedures. In May of this year, the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency confirmed that its technical center complies with the requirements of FAP-145 for aviation maintenance.

With the expanded certificate, AZUR air can handle CF6-80C2 and PW4000-94 engines used by its Boeing 767 fleet within its own engineering and maintenance system, and may also undertake approved maintenance work on the same engine types from other operators. The company's existing technical departments already have line and base maintenance capabilities for Boeing 737, 757, 767, and 777 aircraft, with scheduled maintenance coverage up to the C-check level.
