Ltd. for the supply and commissioning of heavy-duty elevators and escalators for the Lucknow, Kanpur, and Agra metro projects. The company was the sole bidder for the contract, whose scope covers the supply, installation, and commissioning of equipment at designated station sites, with the contract value encompassing initial delivery and obligations related to on-site integration with station access systems.

As per the agreement's requirements, Johnson Lifts must complete equipment installation and testing in accordance with the project schedule set by UPMRC and hand over systems ready for operation. The supplier is also required to provide maintenance support during the two-year defect liability period and, upon its conclusion, enter into a one-year comprehensive annual maintenance contract, covering rectification measures and routine services as specified in the procurement documents.

Procurement officials stated that the contract will support the operational readiness of the three metro systems by addressing passenger flow through the installation and maintenance of vertical transport equipment. The heavy-duty escalators and elevators are designed with consideration for the durability and safety requirements of urban rapid rail transit networks and are integrated with platform and concourse layouts. Equipment commissioning will be coordinated with civil works and signaling system milestones to avoid disruptions to the overall project schedule.

The contract was awarded following a competitive tendering process, with Johnson Lifts being the sole qualified bidder, a circumstance that also underscores the importance of long-term maintenance support beyond equipment supply. UPMRC retains responsibility for project oversight and acceptance testing during the handover phase. Through the defect liability period and the subsequent maintenance contract period, continuity of service delivery is expected to be ensured.
