en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has issued a No Objection Certificate to Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), agreeing to close the existing 48-inch water supply line along Barrackpore Trunk Road to facilitate municipal clearances for the Baranagar–Barrackpore metro corridor construction. KMC has also approved the laying of a new 72-inch water supply line connecting the Indira Gandhi Water Treatment Plant at Palta with the Talla Pumping Station. Six major water supply lines with diameters ranging from 42 to 72 inches run along this road.

Kolkata Metro Pink Line receives municipal clearance

The Baranagar–Barrackpore corridor is part of the Kolkata Metro Pink Line and is being built entirely as an elevated section. The BBVS package being implemented by RVNL extends from outside Baranagar metro station to Mangal Pandey metro station, covering a chainage range of approximately 4.68 km to 16.98 km, with a line length of about 12.3 km. The scope of work includes 10 elevated stations and elevated viaduct sections. Baranagar station is not part of this package's construction scope, and the line will interconnect with the existing Blue Line at this station.

RVNL floated the tender for the BBVS package on July 28, with an estimated value of INR 15,873.9 million, a contract duration of 42 months, and a bid security of INR 20 million. The tender follows a two-envelope system and allows a maximum of two firms to form a joint venture for bidding; consortium arrangements are not permitted. The procurement documents also apply to domestically manufactured goods procurement preference and local content requirements.

A tender corrigendum issued on August 18 revised the bidding schedule, with bid submission commencement changed to October 24 and the deadline extended from the original September 29 to 11:00 AM on October 30. The tender status remains open.
