Solarity acquires 30 solar plants totaling 5.2 MWp in Chile

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Solarity, a Chilean distributed generation company backed by Brookfield Renewable, has completed the acquisition of a 100% interest in the distributed generation portfolio of EVOL, the power subsidiary of the LipiAndes group. The transaction involves 30 photovoltaic plants with a combined installed capacity of 5.2 MWp, including 20 ground-mounted plants and 10 rooftop plants, all currently operational and under long-term power supply contracts with commercial and industrial customers. The assets are located in northern and south-central Chile, and the transaction amount has not been disclosed.

With the incorporation of these plants, Solarity's total number of operational solar plants in Chile has exceeded 300. The company stated that this acquisition is its second portfolio-wide purchase in just over a year, forming part of a dual-track strategy that combines developing new projects with acquiring existing assets. In May 2025, Solarity acquired 32 self-consumption solar plants from Energía Latina S.A. (Enlasa), totaling 11 MWp, distributed across six regions of Chile.

Solarity's long-term goal is to own 1,000 plants in Chile. In August 2024, the company announced $50 million in financing to drive the development of new distributed generation facilities. The company's General Manager, Horacio Melo, stated that this acquisition is part of the expansion plan currently being implemented, which balances new projects with acquisitions of operational portfolios, marking the second such transaction within a year, and it will not be the last.

Solarity primarily serves commercial, industrial, and agricultural customers, offering development, financing, construction, and operation services for photovoltaic plants, typically under long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs). Brookfield Renewable acquired a majority stake in the Chilean company in 2022.

The transaction takes place against the backdrop of sustained growth in Chile's distributed self-consumption market. According to data from Chile's Superintendency of Electricity and Fuels (Superintendencia de Electricidad y Combustibles), as of the end of May 2026, the capacity declared under the Netbilling mechanism reached 502.9 MW, corresponding to 41,986 plants, of which 501.985 MW were solar plants.
