US Venture Global Maintains Plaquemines LNG Phase 2 Supply Schedule for Q2 2027
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 1, Venture Global sent letters to long-term customers of the Plaquemines LNG Phase 2 project in Louisiana, USA, reaffirming that LNG will be delivered in accordance with existing contractual arrangements and previously agreed prices, and maintaining the plan to commence long-term contract supplies no later than the second quarter of 2027.

Venture Global previously set a commercial operation date (COD) target for Plaquemines Phase 1 in the fourth quarter of 2026 and Phase 2 in mid-2027, as stated in its Q2 2026 operating report. As of the end of June, the overall Plaquemines project remained in the construction and commissioning phase, with LNG production and sales volumes ramping up; the project exported 90 LNG cargoes in Q2 2026, with LNG sales recognized as revenue totaling 328.9 trillion British thermal units.
Plaquemines Phase 2 has signed seven long-term sale and purchase agreements totaling 6.7 million tonnes per annum, each with a 20-year term. Long-term buyers include Chevron U.S.A., EnBW, ExxonMobil LNG Asia Pacific, Petronas LNG, NFE North Trading, China Gas Hongda Energy Trading, and Excelerate Gas Marketing, of which the first six each contracted 1 million tonnes per annum, and Excelerate contracted 0.7 million tonnes per annum.
The combined nameplate capacity of Plaquemines LNG Phase 1 and Phase 2 is 20 million tonnes per annum, with Phase 1 long-term contract volume at 13 million tonnes per annum plus an additional 0.3 million tonnes per annum under mid-term contracts; Phase 2 long-term contract volume stands at 6.7 million tonnes per annum. The project will commence contractual deliveries under the respective long-term sale and purchase agreements only after reaching COD for each phase. As of the end of 2025, Venture Global expects that, in addition to nameplate capacity, the project can sell up to 8 million tonnes per annum of additional capacity through internal agreements.
Phase 2 has already entered the LNG production and commissioning stage, but has not yet reached the commercial operation stage corresponding to long-term contracts. In its regulatory filings as of the end of June 2026, Venture Global still lists the overall Plaquemines status as "construction and commissioning," and expects long-term sale and purchase agreements for Phase 1 and Phase 2 to commence performance in 2026 and 2027, respectively.
