ANA Holdings Adds 8 E190-E2 Aircraft, Firm Orders Rise to 23
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 4, ANA Holdings officially signed a purchase agreement with Embraer for an additional 8 E190-E2 regional jets, increasing ANA Holdings' firm orders for the E190-E2 from 15 to 23 aircraft, while retaining purchase rights for 5 additional aircraft. This contract formalizes the additional purchase decision announced by ANA Holdings on July 29.
ANA Holdings originally ordered 15 E190-E2 aircraft in 2025, with options for 5 additional aircraft, to supplement its domestic Japanese routes with aircraft in the approximately 100-seat class. The conversion of all 8 additional aircraft into firm orders means the company's current E190-E2 procurement scale could reach up to 28 aircraft based on firm orders and remaining options. The first E190-E2 is scheduled for delivery in fiscal year 2028, making ANA the first Japanese airline to operate the E190-E2.
The E190-E2 has a standard seating capacity of approximately 100 seats and a maximum range of approximately 5,463 kilometers. ANA's current domestic fleet lacks jet aircraft in the approximately 100-seat class between the 74-seat DHC-8-400 and the 166–194-seat Boeing 737/A321. The company plans to use the E190-E2 to fill this capacity gap and deploy it on regional routes, off-peak hours, and flights with lower demand.
According to ANA Holdings' previously announced fleet plan, the company intends to expand its group fleet to approximately 320 aircraft by the end of fiscal year 2030, increase the share of regional and narrow-body aircraft on domestic routes from 85% at the end of fiscal year 2019 to approximately 90%, and raise the share of high fuel-efficiency aircraft in the group from 70% to approximately 91%. The E190-E2 is part of the domestic capacity adjustment within this fleet renewal plan.
The contract value for this order of 8 aircraft was not disclosed. ANA previously stated that the actual purchase price is expected to be lower than the list price, depending on discount conditions negotiated with the manufacturer.
