LG Chem Partners with Jianghua Micro to Officially Enter China's Semiconductor Cleaning Agent Market

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Recently, LG Chem announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Jiangyin Jianghua Micro-Electronic Materials Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Jianghua Micro"). The two parties plan to jointly develop and produce high-purity isopropyl alcohol (hereinafter referred to as "HP-IPA"), officially entering China's semiconductor cleaning agent market. Kim Sang-min, Head of LG Chem's Petrochemical Business Division, and Shang Zhaocong, Chairman of Jianghua Micro, attended the signing and project launch ceremony.

Through this cooperation, LG Chem will endeavor to supply Jianghua Micro with high-quality, high-purity C3-IPA raw materials under reasonable commercial terms agreed upon by both parties, for the production of HP-IPA products. To this end, the two parties will aim to leverage their leading C3-IPA raw material mass production capabilities, as well as advanced purification technology and manufacturing expertise, to focus on the electronic industry sector and China's semiconductor cleaning agent market, jointly building a localized supply system for HP-IPA and advancing the commercialization of its applications.

With the rapid expansion of the global market for advanced processes such as AI chips and high-bandwidth memory (HBM), demand for upstream electronic-grade chemicals has continued to rise. Electronic-grade IPA, with its excellent solvent properties and strong volatility, is a key material for core processes such as wafer cleaning, photoresist stripping, and precision surface treatment. Its purity directly determines chip yield and reliability.

Currently, LG Chem has a diversified IPA product portfolio and can produce HP-IPA products with a purity of up to 99.999%. Its annual production capacity of C3-IPA made from propylene reaches 165,000 tons. HP-IPA is a product obtained by further refining C3-IPA to a higher purity, used in processes with high cleanliness requirements such as wafer cleaning and drying.

The two parties will take this cooperation as an opportunity and use stable supply as a cornerstone to provide global customers with high-purity, highly stable advanced material solutions. At the same time, the two parties intend to deeply integrate technological strengths and market resources, work together to build a more resilient cooperative development model, and accelerate the upgrading of the global semiconductor materials industry.
