ENGEL establishes a 13,000-square-meter machinery manufacturing base in Kikinda, Serbia

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 16, Austrian injection molding equipment manufacturer ENGEL announced the establishment of a new manufacturing base in Kikinda in northern Serbia, further adjusting its European production network. In the first phase of the project, approximately 13,000 square meters of manufacturing space will be allocated in Kikinda, mainly for the production of machined components, with plans to gradually recruit approximately 150 employees over the first three years. The new base will be integrated into ENGEL's existing European manufacturing system, focusing on serving European and American markets.

The initial core task of the Kikinda base is the production of machined parts. ENGEL plans to allocate part of its machinery manufacturing operations to Serbia, allowing its existing Austrian plants to free up more manufacturing capacity for more complex, more highly customized system solutions. The company did not disclose the specific number of equipment units, annual component output, or investment amount for the first phase of the Kikinda base.

ENGEL stated that the Kikinda base will serve as a supplementary node in its European manufacturing network, forming a production division of labor with the group's existing European plants. Once local production capacity is put into operation, it will increase the group's machining capacity for mechanical components within the European region and reduce dependence on long-distance international transport in some supply links.

In terms of personnel development, ENGEL plans to build a local team of approximately 150 people over the first three years. Existing Austrian employees will be responsible for training the new Serbian team, and production and quality management will be carried out in accordance with ENGEL Group's existing standards. Peter Jungwirth will serve as Managing Director of ENGEL Serbia while continuing as the commercial manager of the Czech Kaplice base.

Kikinda has a long-established industrial foundation and a talent pool in machinery manufacturing. According to information from the Serbian Development Agency, local companies in aviation components, metal casting, and machining are already established, and existing manufacturing companies use equipment such as CNC machining centers to carry out production of industrial components for European and overseas markets.

ENGEL currently mainly produces injection molding machines, automation equipment, and injection molding production systems. The first phase of the Kikinda base is not a complete machine assembly project. The officially specified production content is machined components, and whether it will later expand to other manufacturing stages has not yet been announced.
