NIO Silk Road Battery Swap Route Fully Connected, 3,605 Kilometers with 33 Battery Swap Stations

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 26, with the 4,125th NIO battery swap station commencing operation at Sayram Lake in Xinjiang, the NIO Silk Road battery swap route was officially fully connected. The route starts from Xi'an, Shaanxi in the east and ends at Khorgos, Xinjiang in the west, spanning 3,605 kilometers with 33 NIO battery swap stations deployed along the way. On the same day, Power UP 2026 NIO Power Day held a full-route battery swap event on the section from Dushanzi to Khorgos in Xinjiang. With the route fully connected, starting from any NIO battery swap station nationwide, one can reach all provincial-level administrative regions in mainland China through the existing battery swap network.

The Silk Road battery swap route primarily extends westward along the G30 Lianyungang–Khorgos Expressway. NIO disclosed that the G30 Lianyungang–Khorgos Expressway has a total length of 4,395 kilometers, and 43 NIO battery swap stations have been deployed along it, achieving full-route battery swap coverage. NIO's nationwide expressway battery swap stations have reached 1,063, forming a high-speed battery swap network layout of "9 vertical, 11 horizontal, and 16 major city clusters," connecting more than 550 cities.

After the Sayram Lake station commenced operation, as of September 26, NIO had cumulatively built 9,431 charging and battery swap stations nationwide, including 4,125 battery swap stations and 5,306 charging stations, equipped with 30,594 charging piles, and had cumulatively provided over 125 million battery swap services. Compared with September 25, the number of battery swap stations nationwide increased from 4,124 to 4,125, with the newly added one being the Sayram Lake battery swap station that commenced operation this time.

The construction of the western end of this route had previously completed key milestones. On September 25, the NIO battery swap station at Khorgos Kaiyuan Silk Road Hotel officially commenced operation. This station is located at the western terminus of the Lianyungang–Khorgos Expressway and is also the westernmost battery swap station on the Silk Road battery swap route. Subsequently, the Sayram Lake station commenced operation on the 26th, completing the deployment of 33 battery swap stations across the entire route.

NIO is also continuing to expand its "Power Scenic Routes" this year. As of the end of April, the company had fully connected 84 power scenic routes; by late September, public information showed a cumulative total of 92 fully connected routes, with plans to increase to 100 by the end of 2026. Subsequent construction routes include the Southern Xinjiang Western Extremity Route, the G331 Northern Border Route, the Ali North Route, and the Sichuan-Tibet North Route, among others. As of the end of April, NIO's charging and battery swap facilities had covered 315 5A-level scenic areas nationwide.
