en.Wedoany.com Reported - As the 2026 National Science Popularization Month advances in depth, the "Lighting Up the Light of Nuclear, Exploring Green Nuclear Energy Together" 2026 National Science Popularization Month nuclear field main event, initiated by the "Green Nuclear Energy" Nuclear Power Science Popularization Cooperation Platform and jointly hosted by China National Nuclear Corporation, China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd., State Power Investment Corporation Limited, and China General Nuclear Power Group, was officially held on September 24 at the China Soong Ching Ling Science & Culture Center for Young People.

Liu Jianping, Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of CNNC, pointed out in his speech that nuclear energy, as a stable and reliable low-carbon clean baseload energy source, has become a pillar of strength for safeguarding national energy security and promoting green and low-carbon transformation. CNNC has always adhered to the principle of advancing both technological innovation and science popularization, committed to conveying the value concept of "nuclear is around us, nuclear creates the future" through more humanistic communication approaches, and actively building a modern grand science popularization framework featuring cross-group collaborative synergy, open sharing of science popularization resources, and cross-sector brand building. Song Jun, Chairman of the China Science and Technology Development Foundation, stated that the Foundation has deeply embedded the enhancement of public nuclear science literacy into its public welfare support system, actively exploring a new collaborative communication paradigm of "central enterprises + public welfare organizations," working with all parties to innovate communication vehicles, break down social cognitive barriers, and broadly build social consensus supporting the healthy and orderly development of nuclear energy.

Gou Feng, Director of the China Nuclear Power Development Center under the National Energy Administration, emphasized that in June of this year, under the guidance of the National Energy Administration and the National Nuclear Safety Administration, the first industry-wide collaborative platform—the "Green Nuclear Energy" Nuclear Power Science Popularization Cooperation Platform—was jointly established by the China Nuclear Power Development Center together with the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Center, the Chinese Nuclear Society, and the four major nuclear-related central enterprise groups, and has already supported member units in implementing more than 20 high-quality science popularization activities. In the future, the platform will continue to deepen its efforts, striving to build a flagship science popularization brand with industry-wide credibility and social penetration, and create a favorable public opinion environment for the high-level safety and high-quality development of China's nuclear power.

In the keynote science popularization session, Ye Guoan, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chief Scientist of CNNC and Head of the Science Popularization Team, delivered a special science popularization report titled "Integrated Fast Reactor Nuclear Energy System." Academician Ye Guoan closely followed China's medium- and long-term "three-step" strategic roadmap for nuclear energy development—"thermal reactor—fast reactor—fusion reactor"—and provided an accessible yet in-depth analysis of the cutting-edge technical mechanisms of the fourth-generation sodium-cooled Fast Breeder Reactor (FBR) and advanced closed nuclear fuel cycle, vividly demonstrating to young audiences China's frontier technological breakthroughs and industrial prospects in improving uranium resource utilization and achieving minimization of radioactive waste treatment.

At the event site, a montage of achievements from the "Light of Nuclear" series of nuclear science popularization activities was collectively released, and the "Green Energy Seeds · Nuclear Fusion Future" themed synergy launch ceremony was held; three young representatives from the science popularization platform, nuclear power operation "Golden Man" (main control room operator) training, and nuclear technology medical and industrial application fields delivered "Nuclear Science Popularization Zero Distance" cross-sector lightning talks. The event also specially featured an interactive nuclear science and technology themed exhibition and, for the first time, distributed to the public the original science popularization picture book "Nuclear Together with You: Atomic Adventures." This event was undertaken by CNNC (Beijing) Media Culture Co., Ltd., and jointly undertaken by the Chinese Radiation Protection Society, China National Nuclear Power Co., Ltd., and CNNC Strategic Planning Research Institute. Through an innovative format integrating authoritative guidance from academicians and experts with vivid storytelling by frontline professionals, it promoted two-way communication between the nuclear energy industry and the public.
