India's Avid Organics Plans to Build First Overseas Chemical Production Plant in the US

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 13, Indian specialty chemicals manufacturer Avid Organics announced plans to build its first overseas chemical production plant in the United States through its wholly-owned subsidiary Avid Organics America Inc. The plant will initially produce industrial-grade and cosmetic-grade glycine and glycolic acid, with a target of commencing operations in 2028. The company plans to invest up to US$50 million cumulatively in its US operations through 2035, for manufacturing facilities, production process technology, and local operational system development.

Avid Organics America Inc. currently handles the distribution of the group's products in the US market, and the proposed plant will add local chemical production capacity. According to the preliminary construction plan, the new facility will be equipped with glycine and glycolic acid production systems, with space reserved for capacity expansion in subsequent development phases. The company is currently in discussions regarding the site selection for the US plant.

Avid Organics' existing manufacturing base is located in India, and its product portfolio includes glycine, glycolic acid and their derivatives, bio-based chemicals, and mineral chemical products. Among these, glycine products serve the food, animal nutrition, and pharmaceutical-related markets, while glycolic acid products are used in personal care, cosmetics, and industrial cleaning applications. The US plant is planned to initially produce industrial-grade and cosmetic-grade specifications of these two product categories.

In 2026, Avid Organics also launched AviGa Bio HP70, a bio-based glycolic acid product, into its existing product lineup. The product is a 70% concentration cosmetic-grade glycolic acid solution and has obtained EU REACH registration. The initial products confirmed in the US plant announcement are glycine and glycolic acid, while the company's existing bio-based products belong to its manufacturing operations in India.
